Great article Ryan and definitely useful for upcoming new grads in industry
I'd add for point 10 RE return offers from internship, this article is another good resource that dives deeper on actionable ways to increase your odds of the return offer
I love the overarching point of being proactive. The best part is that you can start being proactive on the small things, do those well, let people know about it and eventually you do the same on the big things
Thanks for the great video!! I really wish I had this while I was a sophomore/junior.
One question I have is what are your thoughts on Pre-IPO startups/scale-ups (ie Decacorns/hot unicorns) like Rippling, Notion and Anduril? The comp is comparable to FAANG. In terms of career growth, you're more likely to hit senior leadership slightly faster due to headcount growth. Finally, you get structured learning from peers and get to be actively involved in the scale-up phase of these companies.
While they're not as prestigious as Meta (or FAANG) today, they're likely to be the household brands of tomorrow.
I'm curious if you'd recommend a new grad to join a pre-ipo startup or a big tech?

One of the biggest advantages of big tech over startups (series C or earlier) is the immediate step change in brand equity. That opens a lot of opportunities.
Pre-IPO startups/scale-ups can get you that same benefit in many cases though. Therefore they can be a great choice too and I'd narrow it down looking at some of the more situational factors (e.g. team structure, work you enjoy, manager you could see yourself working with)
